I decided to try and sell my old laptop on Craig’s List, I didn’t want to bother with eBay because it seems everyone on there is from another city/country and they all want things shipped.  This seems like a great way to get scammed, so I thought I’d just sell it locally.

Unfortunately the Nigerian scammers have taken over Craig’s List Toronto now too.  Oddly with all this money at stake for their scams, they never seem to realize how obvious it is.  Check out these emails.

I’ve just started watching Arrested Development, because whenever people talk about that awkward kid from all those teen angsty movies they invariably say something akin to “well have you seen Arrested Development, it’s so funny”.

Unfortunately for me, what I dislike about most of those angsty movies with that awkward kid is very prevalent in this show.  Everything goes wrong for what appears to be the only sane guy in the bunch.  Everyone other than Jason Bateman’s character are charicatures, acting in a way no one would.  There is basically zero believability in their roles.

I noticed my last post actually got tweeted, which was supposed to be happening for the last few weeks.  What I didn’t know was that Twitter Updated v2.0 doesn’t seem to work with Wordpress 1.7.1; I disabled it and downloaded WP To Twitter which apparently works fine.  In fact I like this addon better since it gives me the option to not tweet a new post, and I can create a custom tweet from the new post page.

Great addon!

The shower that just came across the city was so quiet and a straight downpour, it was like thunder rain without the thunder.  The sun was at the perfect level to create a pinkish sky, which was really cool.  I took a couple pictures but Windows 7 doesn’t have a x64 driver for my TI card reader.  I noticed about 30 other people in other building also standing out on their balconies looking at the rain; It was really something.

I had heard about these videos for a while now, and I finally got around to looking for them.  Surprisingly it was sort of hard to find them all on YouTube.  It’s a very funny series of gags, and the only thing that really bugs me is the censorship, it basically  ruins the joke.  It’s like watching the Dick in a Box video censored, just not as funny.

Anyway, since I went to the trouble of finding all these related video’s I thought I’d make a single post where you can watch them in the proper sequence afer the jump.

I know it doesn’t fit, I’ll be fixing that later, but for now at least it’s a pretty neat (and pretty) widget that shows my latest twitter posts.  I retweet a lot of good stuff that I just don’t bother blogging about.

This whole site will be getting a facelift soon.

I don’t know what TED is, or where this conference is held, but from the two video’s I’ve watched so far, I want to see everything they show there.

The folks over at MixThatDrink.com created a great tutorial for Skittles Flavoured Vodka which I had never though about until I read the tutorial.  Now I’m thinking I need to buy skittles.

A few weeks ago I saw Sarah Silverman on a show or something, and I remembered about her show The Sarah Silverman Program and decided to download the 3 seasons that have been produced so far.

While looking for her show, I found a stand up special called “Jesus is Special“, so I decided to get that also.  I also found a story about how she was boo’d off the stage on her first trip to the UK, because her show cost 50 quid and only lasted 40 minutes.  Apparently one of the hecklers yelled “I’ve seen longer clips on YouTube”.

Regardless I finished downloading all 3 seasons of her show and the stand up special.  I watched through the special, and if you remove the pre-recorded bits and songs it probably does only run 40 minutes.  The whole routine she never got any big laughs, only a few chuckles at certain points, I didn’t laugh once.  The musical numbers are the same type of “comedy” only in song.

Basically her whole schtic is that she is a jew, she has a vagina, and she tries to be edgy with racial comments.  By themselves I think there is a lot of comedy in these things, but it’s done so matter-of-fact that it isn’t funny.

So I figured she just isn’t great at stand up, not every comedian is.  I may be considered by most of my friends as very funny, but I doubt I could do a decent stand up routine.  So I tried her show, after I’d been watching it for a while, I had to check how much longer there was, and I was apparently only 12 minutes into it with about 10 minutes left.

I still figured she deserved another shot, not every pilot is good, and sometimes it takes a while for the show to grow legs, so I watched the second episode.  Unfortunately it was more of the same, unfunny humour that probably sounded really funny while she was high.

Apparently she is very smart, and I think I can tell that a bit, and something about her I find very alluring.  I think she is hot, I just don’t think she is funny.  Shame really.

I noticed today that several of the files on my 8 GB USB drive were corrupted.  I first noticed when I tried to open my tv show list text file and it was filled with gibberish.  The file is key since I download all shows, I don’t really know when a show was on, I just keep track of what episode number I need to download next; then when I see it on Pirate Bay I know to download it.  I also keep a list of shows I’ve heard about that I’d like to watch if/when I get more time (usually happens when a show I like is cancelled; goodbye Pushing Daisies, hello Weeds).

Then I noticed my entire photos folder was massively corrupted, and as far as I know there were subfolders and pictures from both my phone and my camera in there.  I’m hoping anything good was backed up somewhere else.

When I first got a USB drive, I thought it was great.  It seems far more stable than spinning discs for keeping data.  Granted, this is the first issue I’ve had in the years I’ve been storing data on USB drives.  The only real problem is losing them, usually.  It was either Windows or the PS3 that caused this corruption, I’ll have to be more thorough with unmounting in the future.

I’m just lucky it wasn’t the USB drive I use for my banking info, and it reminded me to back up that data which was a year or more overdue.

So now I have 3 virtually clean USB drives and I think I can better organize them so I don’t have the same types of files strewn about on each of them.  My new plan is to use one for tools, including password hackers etc. as this is a very useful thing to have around.  The second will be just for my data, and I may look into encryption apps for this data, but apparently that adds an extra layer of corruption chance.  The third and largest will just be for media files to move back and forth from the PC to the PS3 or other locations (at least until I figure out streaming from my PC to the PS3).

Of course now I realize the largest USB drive, the one that was corrupted, cannot be accessed because it is not formatted, and cannot be formatted for whatever reason.  We’ll see how this turns out.
